The 7 Best Places to Cool Down in Las Vegas
With highs averaging around 104° F during the summer months, it goes without saying that summertime in Vegas is a scorcher. For those visiting the strip on summer vacation, it’s important to know how to stay cool so you can concentrate on having fun.
Luckily, Vegas is home to a number of great places to splash around and cool off—and we’ve put together a list of the top spots to escape the heat.
1. Stay cool in a parka
One of the best ways to cool off is with a tropical drink, and every block in Vegas boasts an establishment ready to serve you a frozen concoction. But some places are, literally, cooler than others. When things are getting particularly toasty, stop by the minus5° bar at Mandalay Bay to enjoy an adult beverage inside what feels like a winter wonderland.
Everything in this bar is made of ice, including the seating and glasses, and the year-round inside temperature runs right around freezing. Don’t worry: your cover charge includes parkas and faux furs to keep you snug. Patrons in the know also suggest wearing socks!
2. Enjoy a summertime staple (with a bit of a kick)
On a hot day, nothing tastes better than a milkshake—except, perhaps, a “Bam Boozled” handmade, over-21 shake at Holsteins. If you have kids with you, they’ll go ga-ga over the virgin-version of their over-the-top creations while you indulge in your sinfully delicious adult concoction. Fair warning: not only are the shakes potent, they’re infamously over-the-top. Plan on sharing with a friend and don’t be disappointed when you fill up part way through!
If the shakes seem too intense for you, you can still head over to enjoy their AC while having a pint and one of their famous burgers.
3. Don’t forget our iconic pool parties
Las Vegas has some of the best pools in the country—and people travel here from all over the world to attend our famous pool parties. Here are some favorites for taking a dip and having a blast:
- Why we love the MGM Grand: One side of the hotel has a relaxing scene of spa treatments, a lazy river, and a calm crowd, while the opposite end offers a non-stop party at Wet Republic.
- Why we love Caesars Palace: This classic resort has six pools for you to choose from, so you can pick the perfect spot according to your mood.
- Why we love the Cosmopolitan: Not only do they host pool parties in their Marquee Day Club, their summer Dive-In Movies are also a great way to cool off in the pool while catching a fun flick.
5. Release your inner kid
Prime spots for enjoying both family-friendly amusements and continuously pumping AC include Pole Position Raceway, where indoor go-karting fans can try beating top times, and the indoor Adventuredome Theme Park, which includes two full size roller coasters and more. For milder thrills, consider stopping by the SoBe Ice Arena for a delightful afternoon of ice skating.
6. Take a flight…inside
Did you know you can go skydiving indoors? At Vegas Indoor Skydiving, you can experience the weightlessness of flying without having to jump out of a plane. You can catch a ride on 120 miles per hour of forced air for a little extra thrill while staying out of the sun.
7. Pamper yourself
After fighting the crowds and baking in the sun, a little relaxation is in order. There are plenty of spas around the strip, but the Qua Baths & Spa Arctic Ice Room is the perfect spot to get both TLC and a taste of winter. The arctic room offers cool temperatures and real snow that falls from a domed ceiling.
