JJ’s Breast Augmentation Story

“I wanted to wear a bikini on my honeymoon.”

I’m a 24-year-old graphic designer, living with my mom in Las Vegas. Dr. Pancholi did my breast augmentation with silicone gel implants six months ago, and I’m so happy I did it. This is an important time for me because I’m engaged and in the midst of planning my wedding. You might wonder why I chose this specific time in life to get a breast augmentation, and the answer is simple: I wanted to wear a bikini on my honeymoon, and couldn’t get the idea out of my mind. The thought of not feeling good about my body when I would be going off on the most romantic trip of my life made me realize that I needed to do something about it. So I did.

I’ve always been self-conscious about my breasts and wasn’t even large enough to need a bra. I wore one because I wanted to, but never felt feminine. My small breasts were out of proportion to the rest of me, and nothing I tried with clothing or exercise could correct the imbalance. I’m physically active – quite athletic, actually – and I’ve been working out and going to the beach with my friends for many years. I walk, do spin classes, body pump and take Pilates classes but those activities won’t give you bigger breasts, right?!

I didn’t really tell anyone I was going to have a breast augmentation except my mom (who was very happy with her own breast augmentation) and my fiancé, who said he loved me just the way I was and that I didn’t need it. But I wanted it for me. It’s funny because, after I had it done and was back out on the beach with my friends, they were saying, “There’s something different about your body but I can’t put my finger on it.” So I’ve been telling them, “I got boobs!” and they say, “Oh yeah, you did!” My breasts look so natural that even people who know me don’t get it at first. As for my fiancé…well, now that I have new boobs, he loves them! And I love them, too!

“I did my homework and Dr. Pancholi’s name kept coming up.”

I’ve wanted to have a breast augmentation for years, and I had saved up the money for it, so I did my homework online, learning about my options. I zeroed in on Board Certification sites and sites for doctors in my local area. Dr. Pancholi’s name kept surfacing so I decided he’d be one of the doctors I’d consult with. I’d already gone to the doctor out in California who did my mom’s breasts. My plan was to talk to at least five doctors, and it ended up being six. I’d never had cosmetic surgery before, so it was a big deal to me.

My consult at Dr. Pancholi’s office was wonderful. I didn’t feel like a number. There were two other women in the waiting room when I came in for my consult and they both had breast augmentations done. They showed me the finished product (laughing) and we carried on like women do. They looked beautiful! It was a wonderful beginning.

Dr. Pancholi discussed my likes and dislikes and I made him laugh! He showed me tons of photos and talked to me about different implant shapes: narrow, wider, and high profile. I was fully clothed and he sat across from me. Then he told me he was going to choose a size for me to try and that I could tell him honestly what I thought. He said, “I’m not going to tell you the size, just try them first and then we can discuss the size you choose and why.”

Dr. Pancholi wanted me to have implants that fit my height and proportion so he could give me the balance I needed. He spent a lot of time with me, and made me feel so comfortable.

I couldn’t decide on the size so I went back to the office several times and they were so accommodating and didn’t make me feel bad about taking the time I needed. The other consults I went to weren’t good for me. I was sent into rooms by myself to try on different implants and the doctors didn’t sit down with me. Dr. Pancholi gave me his time and all the time I needed. There was no pressure and the staff didn’t rush me. I’ve gotten to know him and his staff – even bring them in baked goods! It’s just been a great experience.

I remember everything about my recovery, drinking a lot of water afterward and going home to sleep and rest. I slept on my back propped up and wore the bra they gave me to keep my breasts in place. I was just so happy to be able to need a bra! I missed working out, but it was worth it and I had a concern about scarring, but the scar treatment they gave me works great. You have to be patient and let your body heal. For instance, it took about three months, but now my breasts feel and look so much better to me.

Dr. Pancholi and his staff really showed me that they care about me personally. In the end, the proof is in the way I look and feel. I look so much better in my clothing and feel great about my body. It doesn’t get better than that!

My Advice to other women wanting breast augmentation

Check out at least three doctors online and see that they do natural-looking work. Visit several offices and if you get rushed through your consultation – or if a doctor sends you into a room by yourself to try on implants – walk right out and go see Dr. Pancholi! He’ll talk you through the process and give you the time to ask all your questions. If the doctor doesn’t sit down with you, they don’t care. That office visit is the most important part of making your decision because you need to know your doctor is looking out for your overall well-being. Your implants need to be the right size and fit for your body and you have a right to ask all your questions and not be made to feel bad about it.

I’m excited about the future and – yes – I’ve got that bikini ready for my honeymoon. I feel so happy with my body now. I love my new boobs!
