Congratulations to Our First Annual Pancholi Scholarship for Nevada Educators Recipient!

Pancholi Scholarship for Nevada Educators

Dr. Pancholi was blown away by the outpouring of future teachers who applied for the Pancholi Scholarship for Nevada Educators—and the Scholarship Committee had a tough decision to make. All applicants showed a remarkable dedication to their education and passion for shaping the minds of the next generation. But while choosing between such inspiring applicants was a challenge, we knew one thing for certain: the future is bound to be bright with these Nevada educators at the helm.

One applicant stood out for her devotion to enriching lives through education, commitment to helping children in need, and courage to follow her dreams. Dr. Pancholi is excited to announce the recipient of the first annual Pancholi Scholarship for Nevada Educators: Lori Brown of Henderson, Nevada.

Meet scholarship recipient & future speech pathologist, Lori Brown

Lori returned to school two years ago to pursue her passion for speech pathology after realizing she was at a crossroads in her life: continue in a profession that no longer brought her satisfaction or follow her dream of working with children as a speech therapist.

“The last two years at Nevada State College have been nothing short of amazing, as I learn more about the diagnosis and treatment of children with speech and language disorders. An actual clinic has been established through the generosity of the Scottish Rite Foundation, as students are trained under the supervision of the NSC staff to provide free speech therapy services to children in need. Working with these children has simply reinforced my decision to earn a degree that will allow me to work within the school district, where I can help with their communication needs.”

In addition to her studies, Lori volunteers as a CASA (Court Appointed Special Advocate) for children who are abused or neglected in the foster care system. In this role, Lori advocates for what is in a child’s best interest as they move through the system toward their permanent home.

Lori’s desire to pursue children’s speech pathology was solidified by her CASA volunteer work; she witnessed how speech therapy can positively change lives of children living with severe speech impediments.

“Success looks like happiness. I believe that there is nothing more rewarding than touching the lives of others and have found there is a true peace in doing what you love. There is a peace within that is somewhat indescribable when passion meets profession, and I am so excited to complete my senior year so that I can begin working among the children in the school district.”

Dr. Pancholi is honored to help such a passionate future educator as she pursues her dreams, and he looks forward to continuing the Pancholi Scholarship for Nevada Educators to support our next generation of excellent teachers.

Congratulations, Lori Brown! We know you are going to do amazing things, and we’re proud of the work you’ve done so far!
