The first step in the breast augmentation surgery process is a consultation. During this time, we will discuss your medical history, your goals for breast augmentation, and the necessary steps to take before proceeding with surgery. We will also evaluate the characteristics of your breasts to determine what surgical interventions will help you achieve your goals.

Breast augmentation requires the surgical placement of synthetic implants composed of saline or silicone gel. Through an incision on or around the breast, Dr. Pancholi places the implants in one of three possible submuscular or subglandular positions. Stitches are placed to close the incisions and ensure proper healing. General anesthesia, or local anesthesia with intravenous sedation is used during the procedure.

Breast Augmentation Options

Today, there are many available options in breast augmentation surgery, from different implants to different surgical techniques. Below are some of the choices available, all of which you can discuss during your surgical consultation with Dr. Pancholi.

Breast Augmentation Recovery

Immediately after surgery, you will be taken to a closely monitored recovery area. A special bra and/or gauze dressing will surround your breasts, which can be removed after a few days. Patients should expect some swelling and discomfort during the first few days after surgery. Your scars will be red colored and slightly raised for some time, but will eventually fade and flatten out.

After about 30 days, you will be able to fully appreciate the results of your breast augmentation. Your breasts will exhibit fullness and a greatly enhanced shape, and you'll find that certain styles of clothing look and fit better than before.
