I had my first breast augmentation 20 years ago. I’m an active flight attendant in my 60’s and married with three grown children. I’m glad to have the opportunity to tell you my breast augmentation story – a story with a really happy ending! Three months ago, Dr. Pancholi removed 20-year-old breast implants and gave me a breast augmentation with saline implants. I had a breast augmentation originally because after three children my breasts were pretty much gone. I wanted to feel confident again about the way I looked and my husband told me to go for it, so I started planning. At the time, I owned several salons and I saved for three years before I could finally get that procedure done. That was then.
Now, even though I’m in my 60’s, I take a lot of pride in being physically fit and looking good. I walk, I belong to a health club here in Las Vegas and I work out 3 times a week. My flight attendant work is physical, too. I lift luggage, climb flights of stairs, and walk a lot in the airports. I also have an active social life with my son, my daughter-in-law and a cousin. We eat out and have regular get-togethers. I play bingo and like the nickel machines so that gets me out and about, too and I’m close to my neighbors. There’s always something going on, so I like to get dressed up and go out and I like to look my best.
I had to have my old implants replaced and I was scared, so I put it off.
About six years ago, I noticed that my implants were starting to harden. The right one was especially uncomfortable, and the breast was starting to point downward. You couldn’t tell when I was dressed, but I knew it and I realized I needed to do something about it. Last year, Dr. Pancholi did breast augmentation surgery on a friend of mine and she got a beautiful result. That got me thinking about it even more. The thing is… I was scared to go through a surgery and have anesthesia.
Now I’m only sorry I waited so long…
When you’re young, you’re not scared – at least I wasn’t. You just don’t really think about it. It was a different time in my life and I was sure of what I wanted. But I’m a lot older now and I wasn’t sure how I would do in surgery. I knew that I’d have to schedule time away from my work, which was also a concern…and I was worried about discomfort afterward. So, thinking about it became stressful for me. I knew I needed to have the old breast implants removed, but I kept putting it off. I finally decided to just take care of the situation so I could get back to my normal optimistic way of looking at life. Now I’m only sorry I waited so long.
I checked out several doctors, and asked about pricing and so forth. I decided to go with Dr. Pancholi because – like I said – my friend got a beautiful result and she couldn’t say enough about how Dr. Pancholi and his staff treated her so well. And that’s how it was with me; they were just wonderful. The patient coordinator understood that I needed to have a clear time frame so I’d know when I could go back to work, and she helped me plan everything down to the wire. I chose their CareCredit plan, so I pay as much or as little as I want to each month and for 18 months there’s no interest. I’ll pay it off before then because, even though I’m not rich, we’re financially comfortable. My husband’s retired and I felt fortunate that I could afford cosmetic surgery. I got the chance I wanted to feel good about my body again.
My recovery from breast augmentation
The procedure went fine and even though I was given a prescription for pain pills, I only ended up taking 3 of them. I wore the bra they gave me for a month, night and day – and just took it off to shower. I expected a lot of discomfort, but there was very little. I was just bored being home for a month! Like I said, I like to be out and about. I did go out to dinner once in awhile and to the casino, but couldn’t lift or do anything strenuous during that time. But I got treated so well. Dr. Pancholi has a great office and a great staff. They took all the time in the world with me. It’s hard to find a doctor whose personality you like…who you can talk openly to. I can be myself with Dr. Pancholi.
I brought a friend of mine in who wanted to get some work done and Dr. Pancholi looked carefully and told her maybe all she needed was to get on a good skin care regimen. They were having a Latisse Special the day we went in – buy one and get the second one at half price – so I bought it for me and for my friend. Dr. Pancholi even took the time to explain how to use the Latisse. He said he wouldn’t let us buy it without allowing him to explain how to use it. And I asked him about slight bags under my eyes and wondered if I should get cosmetic surgery for that. He said not to do anything. He could have…and I would have considered it. A lot of doctors see dollars and they go for it but not Dr. Pancholi. He’s honest; he tells it like it is.
I told Dr. Pancholi, “If I strike it rich, my body is yours!”
How has this surgery changed my life? It made me want to get a tummy tuck done! But, seriously, I went up one cup size, which I like. I still fit into all my old clothing. My breasts don’t really look bigger; they’re just fuller. The people who know I had a breast augmentation think I look great. And my husband loves them (laughing)! And you know what? They do look great! I’m not afraid of considering another cosmetic surgery procedure now that I’ve been through the experience and I really am considering a tummy tuck. I told Dr. Pancholi, “If I strike it rich, my body is yours!”
